You might expect Leron Lynch to believe in his grandson Marshawn. Especially just before the All-Pro running back’s debut with his hometown Oakland Raiders.
Still, smiles might follow anyone who sees his show of support for Marshawn Lynch in an interview Saturday afternoon ahead of the Raiders’ preseason game at the Cardinals.
Asked by Del Rogers of KCRA if Beast Mode has anything left in the tank, Marshawn’s grandfather replied, “Plenty.”
“He’s got plenty (left),” Leron Lynch continued. “Plenty. He’s got plenty of gas. He’s ready to go. He’s been working out since he took off the whole year. He’s been working out every day.”
Sounds pretty dang believable, particularly amongst those in Raider Nation.
Rogers also inquired about how Lynch reacted to Marshawn coming out of retirement to join the Raiders.
It makes sense that Leron Lynch would know such things, even just as Marshawn’s grandfather. However, his interest in Marshawn’s football career back to his Pop Warner days — when he was reportedly the one to suggest Marshawn play running back.
“He would run over people. He would run around them,” Leron Lynch told Daniel Brown of Bay Area News Group in 2014. “And he hasn’t stopped running since.”
Marshawn also ran from the spotlight, which is partly why he retired with a classic tweet, and continually expresses wariness of reporters — which is partly why he un-retired with another classic Tweet. His
“He just doesn’t want anyone to look at him special,” Leron Lynch told Brown.
Raiders fans certainly are peering at Lynch like a special player amid a franchise renaissance. Leron Lynch seemingly believes they will be pleased with Marshawn’s abilities and endurance.
