Bill Belichick used an expletive moments after the New England Patriots’ win when he apologized for Rob Gronkowski’s cheap shot. A day after the Week 13 victory, Belichick didn’t have much to add on the matter.
“I think Rob addressed it. I don’t have anything else to add,” Belichick said on a Monday conference call, per Zack Cox of NESN.
Gronkowski was called for unnecessary roughness when he speared Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White as he was on the ground defenseless late in Sunday’s 23-3 New England win. Gronk’s actions warranted an immediate ejection but the referees just called an unnecessary roughness penalty.
What makes the situation even worse, White was concussed due do Gronkowski illegal move.
The Patriots tight end apologized for his actions following the game. Still, the NFL is reviewing the play and disciplinary actions await for Gronkowski.
All 22 said on Week 13’s Facebook Live that the punishment during the game (penalty and no ejection) didn’t fit the crime. Gronkowski should be suspended for his cheap shot. The NFL will decide Gronk’s fate in the near future. A fine or suspension is coming. It should be the latter.
